Janós Puskádi says by finishing Rally Islas Canarias El Corte Inglés last week in a point-scoring position has enabled him to achieve his goal on his step up to the Intercontinental Rally Challenge’s headlining Super 2000 category.

Puskádi, third in last season’s IRC 2WD Cup, will campaign a ŠKODA Fabia Super 2000 on selected events this season.

He said: “I finished in the points without any crash or damage and that was the goal so it’s quite okay. But we only had a short test before the rally so the rally was our first real experience in this kind of car. Next time we will try to push more and we will also have to change our pacenotes because the ŠKODA is much faster than the [two-wheel-drive] Honda we used last year.”

Puskádi was the seventh highest eligible IRC finisher in Gran Canaria to secure six drivers’ points and climb to 11th in the overall standings. He reported experiencing no major problems during the rally.

“Only on the first stage did we have some brake problems because I was braking too much,” said Puskádi.
