The Acropolis Rally - round six - is one of the most historic rallies in the FIA World Rally Championship and is the fourth consecutive gravel event in the 2013 series.
Based in the coastal resort of Loutraki, the Acropolis has a mighty reputation for being one of the toughest events on the calendar. Searing summer temperatures command peak performance from driver and co-driver and, mechanically, a blend of strength, reliability and speed are required to conquer the abrasive rock-strewn mountain stages.
The event will once again start at the Zappion in Athens, this year on Friday afternoon, and will immediately be followed by two stages, the second in darkness. While the competitive kilometres have been reduced this year, and the rally shortened by one day, the challenge will be no less for the 50 registered entrants in the 59th edition of the Acropolis Rally.
CHANGES TO THE ROUTE SINCE 2012
There are eight different stages on the 2013 Acropolis Rally and, in some way, all will be familiar to the crews. Four stages are totally unchanged from 2012 (SS3/7, SS4/8, SS5/9 and SS6/10) while the remaining four stages have modifications and new sections.
