Richelmi to drive for Trident Racing in 2012

The Monegasque driver continues his GP2 career with Italian squad

Trident Racing announced the first driver set to join the team for the 2012 GP2 Series Season. Monaco-based Stéphane Richelmi, 21, who had made his debut with the team in the closing round of 2011 at Monza will be back at the wheel next year.

Richelmi continued to work with Maurizio Salvadori and his team during the post-season testing successfully. The whole staff is looking forward to a fruitful season.

Trident Racing is also in advanced talks for the team’s second driver.

Stéphane Richelmi: “After the good showing had in my first GP2 Series weekend at Monza I decided to drive with other teams in testing to have a good term of comparison. In the end I decided to stick with Trident Racing because it was the best choice for me. The team trusted me, I know the whole staff really well and I have a good relationship with them. I’m really proud to have this opportunity and I can’t wait to start the new season. There will be a lot of rookies in 2012 and and my goal for next year is to stay in the top-5. There are a lot of aspects that are key in GP2 racing, like qualifying for example. My goal is to be good results in these crucial aspects faster than possible."
