MINI driver Dani Sordo’s victory in Corsica might have ended ŠKODA’s unbroken sequence of wins in this year’s Intercontinental Rally Challenge but that hasn’t slowed the Czech firm’s charge for a third consecutive IRC manufacturers’ crown.
After four rounds, ŠKODA holds a 64-point advantage over rival make Peugeot following Jan Kopecký’s second-place finish on the island rally, which was backed up by Andreas Mikkelsen completing the gruelling event in fifth overall following early delays.
Factory ŠKODA driver Kopecký said: “This rally was one of the most difficult events in my career so far. We did our best to win here, putting in all we could."
