Pierre Campana has demoted Jan Kopecký to third position on Giru di Corsica-Tour de Corse with the fastest time on the first run through Marinca-Cagnano, which was shown live on Eurosport.

Corsican hero Campana, in a Munaretto Peugeot 207 Super 2000, was 0.7s quicker than overall leader Dani Sordo to move six seconds clear of ŠKODA Motorsport’s Kopecký in the battle for the runner-up spot. Kopecký was sixth fastest, 17.0s down on Campana.

Out front, MINI driver Sordo’s lead now stands at 31.2s. The Spaniard, who is making his debut in the Intercontinental Rally Challenge, said: “It was good, I was pushing really hard in the stage and I am happy. I don’t take many risks in the first stage but on this stage I took more risks but nothing crazy.”

Bryan Bouffier lost time with a pacenote issue that affected him for a handful of kilometres. Nevertheless the Delta Rally driver was fourth quickest and only 4.6s down on Campana’s stage best in his Peugeot. Mathieu Arzeno was fifth fastest in his similar car.

Craig Breen was delayed when he glanced a rock face after overshooting a corner in his Saintéloc Peugeot, which sustained minor front-end damage. The incident was captured live on Eurosport.

Following a regroup in Sta Severa, crews head to the port town of Macinaggio for a 33-minute service halt. Stage 11, Macinaggio-Centuri 2, gets underway at 13:12hrs local time.
