Jan Kopecky has slashed Pierre Campana’s advantage in the battle for second place to 0.4s following a charging drive through the 15.56-kilometre Macinaggio-Centuri 2 stage.

Despite reporting a moment in his ŠKODA Motorsport Fabia, the Czech was fastest by 3.0s with Andreas Mikkelsen second best following a small mistake in one corner at the wheel of his ŠKODA UK-backed Fabia.

Before the stage got underway, Kopecký had vowed not to give up in his pursuit of the runner-up spot. "I will try to improve my times and push for the second place," he said.

Mathieu Arzeno, who is making his debut on Giru di Corsica-Tour de Corse, impressed with the third fastest time in a Peugeot 207 with MINI ace Dani Sordo fourth quickest to maintain his overall lead.

Jean-Mathieu Leandri lost approximately 15s with a spin in his Peugeot but continues to occupy ninth place in the overall classification.

Stage 12, the second running of Marinca-Cagnano, begins at 14:35hrs local time. It will be televised live on Corsican satellite channel Via Stella.
