SS13: Neuville fastest to win in Sanremo

Ahead of Mikkelsen and Bouffier

Thierry Neuville has won Rallye Sanremo following a dramatic finish to the Intercontinental Rally Challenge event.

Neuville, in a Team Peugeot Belgium-Luxembourg 207 S2000, was 1.2s faster than ŠKODA UK Motorsport’s Andreas Mikkelsen through the final test to take victory by 1.5s having begun the final day 16.6s off top spot.

Behind Mikkelsen, Bryan Bouffier finished third for Peugeot France with Jan Kopecký fourth to maintain his grip on the Intercontinental Rally Challenge standings.

Neuville said: “I was flat out, it was incredible. I can’t believe this, it was the perfect stage.”

Mikkelsen added: “I was right on the limit, we tried but it wasn’t enough.”
