Shakedown vital for Langenakens in Ypres

My aim is to finish in the top 10"

Belgian Group N champion Jonas Langenakens says Thursday evening’s shakedown will give him a rare opportunity to sample his Peugeot 207 Super 2000 ahead of the Geko Ypres Rally.

Langenakens, who claimed IRC Production Cup glory in Ypres last season at the wheel of a Ralliart Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X (pictured), has switched to a Super 2000 Peugeot for 2012. However, limited funding means he has little experience of the French machine.

“I was counting on the [Belgian championship] Sezoens Rally to get used to driving the 207 S2000,” said Langenakens. “But my rally there was over after just a few stages. As my budget is limited, I will only have the shakedown to learn the car again. During the rally, I’ll need some more time to get back into the rhythm, but my aim is to finish in the top 10. If I can do that, I’ll be satisfied.”

Shakedown for the Ypres Rally takes place in the village of Nieuwkerke from 19:00hrs-23:00hrs local time tomorrow (Thursday).
