After Day Two of Wales Rally GB

The second leg of the Wales Rally GB, final round of the 2010 season, saw a close battle for the lead between Petter Solberg and Sébastien Loeb.

The Norwegian matched the pace of the World Champion throughout the day, taking four stage victories in the process, and is only 4.8 seconds adrift of the factory Citroën driver.

Everything is still to play for and Solberg promises to give it all tomorrow to try and take a win he’s been chasing all through the season.

“It’s been good fun today. I have really enjoyed the driving and the battle for seconds”, said Petter. “The car has been working perfectly all day and it’s only my two spins that have made me lose time. Il will give it all for a win here tomorrow. Being second on the road is not so bad as I can run on Loeb’s splits.”

Two loops of two stages will be run tomorrow.

The second – and short – stage of the loop, Margam Park, holds good memories for Solberg: he took the 2003 title there.

Should he take the win, Petter would be the first-ever privateer to win a WRC event.
