Star-studded entry list for IRC’s Corsica visit

Next week’s Giru di Corsica-Tour de Corse is set to be one of the highlights of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge season following the publication of the official entry list for Tarmac spectacular from 9-12 May.

In total, 48 crews have entered the event, which will enjoy extensive live television coverage on Eurosport and covers a competitive distance of 318.23 kilometres.

They include defending IRC champion and current title leader Andreas Mikkelsen in a ŠKODA UK Motorsport Fabia Super 2000, IRC event winners Giandomenico Basso (A-Style M-Sport Ford Fiesta S2000), Bryan Bouffier (Delta Rally Peugeot 207 S2000) and factory ŠKODA Motorsport pilot Jan Kopecký.

Other star names in action are Peugeot 207 S2000 aces Mathieu Arzeno, Craig Breen and Pierre Campana, ŠKODA Auto Deutschland’s Sepp Wiegand, French legend François Delecour (Renault Mégane RS), Dream Team Ukraine duo Oleksii Tamrazov and Oleksandr Saliuk, French Fiesta driver Julien Maurin and Marty McCormack, who has been called up to replace the injured Patrik Flodin in a PS Engineering Fiesta.

Defending IRC Production Cup champion Toshi Arai will compete in an R4-specificaiton Subaru Impreza, while former IRC 2WD Cup title winner will be among the contenders for the two-wheel-drive division.

Andreas Aigner, Jarkko Nikara and Marco Tempestini will also compete in R4 Imprezas. Menya Krózser will be a contender for IRC 2WD Cup honours in his Honda Civic Type R as will last year’s winner Pierre-Antoine Guglielmi in a Renault Clio R3.

Dani Sordo tops the entry but with his MINI Countryman S2000 not produced by a registered IRC manufacturer, the Spaniard won’t be eligible for IRC points.
