Sibiu Rally organiser Sorin Itu says the 61-car entry list assembled for Romania’s Intercontinental Rally Challenge debut next week exceeds all expectations.
The impressive list of crews that will contest the mainly gravel-based eighth round of the IRC is one of the largest of the season.
“It’s an impressive start list that exceeds our expectation as we are for the first time in the IRC,” said Itu. “We are ready to welcome the IRC stars that will have for sure a strong opposition from the Romanian drivers. We expect two days with plenty of action on the special stages with a lot of spectators outside, cheering on the rally drivers. For sure it will be a great show and I hope that all our guests will love the gravel stages from Sibiu.”
Inaugural IRC 2WD Cup champion Marco Cavigioli was the final driver to submit his entry for the event. The Italian will chase IRC Production Cup honours in his Ralliart Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX alongside co-driver Monica Fortunato. It will be Cavigioli’s first start in the IRC in 2012.
