Paolo Andreucci, a winner of Targa Florio-Rally Internazionale Di Sicilia on six occasions, encountered no problems at all during this morning’s shakedown for the Intercontinental Rally Challenge qualifier.

The Italian legend also confirmed he was happy with the set-up of his Racing Lions Peugeot 207 Super 2000 heading into the first stage of the rally near Palermo this evening.

“It was just a normal shakedown for us; nothing special,” said the reigning Italian champion, who is co-driven by Anna Andreussi. “I’m quite happy with the set-up, so there was nothing to change. It’s an event that we have a bit of experience of, so of course our objective is another win, but I’m sure that the others won’t be hanging around either.”

Andreucci, known affectionately as the Re della Targa (the King of the Targa) by the enthusiastic Sicilian fans, is using the latest evolution of the Peugeot 207, which is the official Peugeot Italia entry in the Campianto Italiano Rally. However, only one of his six victories on the Targa Florio has been taken in the car.
