Gabriele Tarquini was back scoring points in the FIA World Touring Car Championship for the first time since WTCC ROSNEFT Race of Russia in June when he bagged a brace of top 10 finishes at Twin Ring Motegi last weekend.
Tarquini, the World Touring Car champion of 2009, finished P10 in the Opening Race and again in the Main Race at JVCKENWOOD WTCC Race of Japan.
Now the Italian is eyeing a return to the podium during the season-closing races at the wheel of his factory LADA Vesta, starting at WTCC Race of China later this month.
“I am still very optimistic, because the car is much better than in Argentina,” said Tarquini. “I am very happy with the balance of my car. Now we have to find a very good set-up for China and I am sure we can fight for the podiums in the rest of the season.”
