The Autódromo Termas de Río Hondo is getting ready to receive the World Touring Car Championship that will be staged in two weeks.

In the latest days the circuit has hosted two important events.

On July 4 and 5 a few Moto GP teams and riders completed a two-day test in view the first GP of Argentina since 1999 that will take place next year.

Yamaha rider Carl Crutchlow commented: “The track is impressive and it is a really a good facility that Argentina can be very proud of. Ithas a good mix of long and fast corners and some are tight, so it is very important to get into a good rhythm. I really like Turn 6, which is a long and downhill corner.”

Last weekend the circuit hosted the sixth round of the Super TC2000, one of Argentina’s major racing series. Under pouring rain, Leonel Pernía (photo) emerged as the winner at the wheel of his Renault Fluence. For a strange coincidence, Pernía is the only Argentine driver who competed in WTCC so far. His only appearances dates back to Monza 2010, when he drove for the Chevrolet factory team and scored one point by finishing tenth in the second race.
