Tiago Monteiro is thrilled to confirm that he will be racing for the Honda Racing - Team JAS in the upcoming 2016 season of the FIA World Touring Car Championship, WTCC. The Portuguese driver celebrated his most successful WTCC championship season in 2015 with two victories, including a home win for the team in Japan to finish fifth overall in the driver standings.
Monteiro, who gave the Honda Civic its debut at the end of the 2012 season, has been an integral member of the Honda Racing Team ever since and is very confident of a strong 2016 challenge. "I’m delighted to be staying with Honda for the 2016 season," Monteiro said. "We’ve made a huge amount of progress with the car over the past couple of years and I know everyone has been working extremely hard over the winter to make the car even faster. This gives me a great amount of confidence that we can have a really good year, despite the incredibly high level of competition in the championship."
Tiago Monteiro will have two new teammates this year with Honda confirming 2012 WTCC champion, Rob Huff while Norbert Michelisz selected to join the factory team and race a third Honda Civic .
The new car’s 2016 livery will be presented at the Geneva Motor Show on March 1st.
