For the fourth consecutive year, Tiago Monteiro will take part in the FIA World Touring Car Championship (FIA WTCC) with SEAT. The Portuguese driver, who has been one of the front runners in the category, will team up with reigning world champion, Gabriele Tarquini as well as Tom Coronel at the SUNRED Engineering Team. The race team will be called SR-Sport and will be supported by SEAT Sport.

In the past three years, Tiago has constantly played his part in the FIA WTCC, continually moving up the grid as he became one of the main players in the four world titles that were secured by his team between 2008 and 2009. Therefore it is with great enthusiasm that he approaches his fourth season in one of the most competitive championships in motor sport. “I am really happy to be able to compete in the WTCC again and to be a part of the SEAT family. Apart from F1, the WTCC is the championship with the greatest level of competition. It is also a great pleasure to be integrated in such a unique paddock, I have learnt a lot over the past few years and it is essential that my career continues in the WTCC,” Tiago declared.

Champion in 2008 and 2009 with SEAT Sport, Tiago will now have to learn how to work in a different professional environment for 2010, but the driver, who has adapted very successfully in as many as ten different categories, remains optimistic. “I will give my all to secure the best results and to improve as a driver, and as a team, at each round of the season. This is the only mentality I will be working with at each race.”

The first round of the 2010 World Touring Car Championship will take place in Brazil from the 5th to the 7th of March. The FIA WTCC will also race in Portugal on the 2nd of July, on the International Motor-Racing track of Algarve.
