FIA President Jean Todt has backed Sébastien Loeb to continue his illustrious career in cross-country rallying following the completion of his two-year FIA World Touring Car Championship stint.

Loeb, who began his WTCC adventure in 2014 as a nine-time world rally champion, is leaving Citroën Racing to drive for Peugeot Sport on the Dakar Rally and rounds of the FIA World Cup for Cross-Country Rallies in 2016.

In his monthly address, Todt wrote: “The FIA Community as a whole wishes him success in this new chapter of an already extraordinary sporting career.”

Loeb missed out on the WTCC runner-up spot by a single point to team-mate Yvan Muller in the season-closing FIA WTCC DHL Race of Qatar last month. He completed the year with four wins, one pole position and five fastest laps.
