Trident Racing welcome Adrian Zaugg to partner Johnny Cecotto Jr. In the 2010 GP2 Series season. The South African driver debuted with Trident Racing earlier this year when he joined the Italian squad for the last two rounds of the third GP2 Asia Series.
Adrian worked even further with the team and team-mate Cecotto Jr. during the pre-season test days. Trident Racing worked hard in order to grant Adrian part of the economic support needed to compete full-time in 2010.
Trident Racing is now set for a tough but, as usual, really exciting season, thanks to two young and ambitious young drivers.
Adrian Zaugg: “I am so happy now. When I had the chance to be back on-track for the GP2 Asia Series race at Bahrain, I knew I could have had a chance, but I would have never imagined to enter a full GP2 Main Series Season. I hoped to find a ride in some less renowned championship, and now I find myself right where I wanted to be. I really want to thank the two Colombian companies that decided to support my career, as well as Trident Racing for their unparalleled mediation job. I definitely wouldn’t have been able to make it without them. I’ll be incredibly motivated and willing to work hard, and even though I know that the championship will be hard, I’m sure we’ll be growing stronger each race. I want to fight for some podium spots soon, and I know the team has a lot of potential which has only seldom emerged. All the team members really want to be at the top, and I’m flying to Barcelona ready to contest a long, tough but fascinating season”.
Maurizio Salvadori, Team Owner: “We’re glad to have finalized some long and complex talks in a positive way, as we’ll be able to count on a great driver like Adrian Zaugg. After having confirmed Johnny Cecotto Jr, another highly-talented youngster, the arrival of Zaugg is another key addition to an extremely valuable driver line-up. At the moment, its quite tough to determine goals, but the whole team is really motivated to do the best. While we are extremely pleased to have Adrian with us, we’re really satisfied to have successfully completed a negotiation that will enable us to co-operate with two important Colombian companies. As their support has been vital to secure the funding needed for Adrian this season, we also hope to expand our collaboration further”.
