Rafael Tulio has moved joint top of the IRC 2WD Cup standings with a comfortable victory on Rally Argentina yesterday.
Driving a Peugeot 206, the Brazilian edged ahead of Argentine hero Pablo Pelaez on the fifth stage of the rally and extended his advantage by more than eight minutes, taking a total of 10 stage wins in the process.
Pelaez dropped time after his Honda Civic’s engine began to overheat due to damage sustained running through a water splash on stage five.
Tulio becomes the third different winner in the two-wheel drive class this season, following in the footsteps of Kris Princen (Monte Carlo) and Marcos Tokarski (Curitiba).
The IRC 2WD Cup resumes on Rally Islas Canarias from 29 April-1 May.
