The Arden GP2 team confirm that experienced GP2 driver Javier Villa will join the team this weekend, at the next round of the GP2 Asia Championship in Abu Dhabi.

“I am really happy to be racing with Arden," said the 22 year-old. "They are a good team and I feel we can work together and push hard in these races. I am looking forward to this weekend.

"Qatar was a night race and I enjoyed that – it was a good race. I am sure I will like the car, the team and the track and I am very motivated for this weekend.”

Villa has both GP2 Asia and GP2 Main Series races under his belt, but this will be his first GP2 Asia race this Season, he finished 10th overall in the last GP2 Asia Season, and his first visit to the Yas Marina circuit. Javier finished 10th overall in the GP2 Main Series in 2009 and has won three races.

"The Arden team is delighted to have signed Javier Villa for this weekend’s GP2 Asia round," said head of race engineering Richard Dent. "Javier has been involved with GP2 since 2006 and is familiar with these cars - the first Dallara GP2 model when he joined the Series. I am sure he will be a contender this weekend in what looks like a competitive field."
