Sebastien Loeb and Petter Solberg have vowed to continue their fight for glory on the final day of the Acropolis Rally.
Loeb holds a narrow lead of 10.2s over Solberg starting Sunday’s closing five stages as he bids to claim his fourth victory in the 2012 FIA World Rally Championship powered by Nokia.
“Ten seconds is not a big difference and I know that Petter will push to the limit,” said Citroen driver Loeb. “Everything is possible, but you have to be sure that I will push hard to keep my place.”
Solberg, yet to win in the WRC since returning to the factory Ford team at the start of the season, said he was confident of overhauling Loeb on the final 65 kilometres of competitive action, which begins with the first Aghii Theordori test at 09:14hrs local time.
“It will be a big fight and I’m feeling confident,” said Solberg. “The stages will suit me and I really want to win. I’m younger than Sebastien and ready to attack.”
Sunday’s route is based close to the rally hub in Loutraki and culminates in the exciting Power Stage, a 3.97-kilometre blast, which awards bonus points to the fastest three drivers.
As well as the battle for overall honours, Valeriy Gorban will continue his pursuit of runaway Production Car World Rally Championship leader Nicolas Fuchs, whose advantage stands at 4m36.8s.
