Quotes from the drivers

Rob HUFF – winner of Race 1, third in Race 2: “We did exactly what we needed to do in Race 1 first getting pole and then I just had to get my head down, which helped having my teammates around me. I think the same thing happened in 2008 when Muller was champion and me and Tarquini were tied on points. It has been a great battle all year and what a way to finish.”

Norbert MICHELISZ – fifth in Race 1, winner of Race 2: “My goal this year was to get on the podium and to win the Rookie Challenge. I am really happy to get on the podium with a win and I couldn’t have chosen a better place to do it. I want to thank every member of the team as they’ve done a fantastic job. In Race 2 when I saw the red flag it was strange as I was quite calm waiting on the grid. I knew I had the pace to stay in front and I am really happy that that is what happened.”

Yvan MULLER – second in Race 1 and 2010 World Champion: “To get on the podium 14 out of 22 races is one of the keys to becoming champion but there are many things you need. All the team have helped and it’s been a great effort from all three drivers, our engineers and mechanics.”

Gabriele TARQUINI – second in Race 2: “It is hard to be motivated to race for second place after being champion last year. But this was really my target. Congratulations to Chevrolet as they have done a fantastic job this season and it’s been difficult to beat them.”

Tiago MONTEIRO – third in Race 1: “I am definitely happy with this season. Getting in the top five was important to me and I’ve had two wins and a few podiums. There are a lot of experienced guys here and I’m still learning from them. I want to dedicate my podium to Afonso Couto – we are all thinking of him and his family.”

Kristian POULSEN – best Independent in Race 1: “Race 1 was perfect. I got a good start and came through from 21st to finish eighth. In Race 2 I was ahead of Engstler but I made a mistake which was really stupid.”

Sergio HERNÁNDEZ – best Independents’ Race 2 and Independents’ Trophy Champion: “This season has been for Proteam and they have done a really good job with limited budget so I want to thank them. I maintained my position in Race 1 but I was worried about Race 2. When I saw Poulsen was out though I just pushed to win the race from Engstler.”

Eric NÈVE – Chevrolet Motorsport Manager: “It has been a terrific season! The team has had a consistent season from starting with a 1-2-3 in Brazil to ending on a high note here. Aside from Yvan and Rob, Alain Menu has also been a great team player this year and although things haven’t gone his way he has really contributed to the team’s success. I’d also like to take this occasion to thank Yvan. Bravo!”
