The WTCC cars and parts are finally on their way back home after a 60,000-kilometre round-the-world trip from Antwerp to Antwerp that lasted nearly seven months.
The 23 containers are currently being unloaded in the Belgian harbour. Teams collect their cars and stuff, stow them in their trucks and get ready to drive back to their workshops where they will begin preparing the machines in view of the first event of the 2013 season that will take place at Monza, Italy on March 24.
The WTCC cars were shipped from Antwerp on June 21, 2012, and travelled to Brazil, USA, Japan, China and Hong Kong for the World Championship’s five overseas events.
After the final race meeting in Macau – on November 18 – everything was packed again and shipped back to Europe.
The whole operation was managed by DHL – WTCC’s Logistics Partner – with support from Weitracon and under the supervision of Eurosport Events.
