Today in Paris the FIA World Motor Sport Council has approved the new system for the WTCC reverse grid that will be adopted from next year.

In order to avoid drivers deliberately losing positions during Race 1 with the aim of securing pole position for Race 2, from 2011 the reverse grid for the second race will be based on the final results of the Q1 qualifying session.

Furthermore, the number of drivers to be reversed will be enlarged from the current eight, to ten because ten are the drivers who score points.

The reverse grid for Race 2 is currently based of the provisional results of the first race.
