The FIA World Touring Car Championship’s oldest driver, Gabriele Tarquini, insists he’s lost none of his motivation ahead of the new season beginning in Argentina next week.

Italian legend Tarquini, who turns 53 on 2 March, will again form part of the Castrol Honda World Touring Car Team alongside Tiago Monteiro and has vowed to hit back following a tough 2014 campaign with the Civic WTCC.

“After a very difficult last season we must improve, and with the support of Honda and JAS we have tested to find a better performance,” said the ex-Formula One racer and 2009 WTCC champion. “It’s not easy because the Citroën remains the car to beat but I am optimistic.

He continued: “When everything is right and you are winning the motivation comes easy. But even after a very tough season I was back in the car testing two weeks after the final race and that was very important. Now I want to enjoy, I want to fight, I want to race and I hope to win again.”
