The FIA World Touring Car Championship is saluting Sébastien Loeb after the former WTCC factory driver made more motorsport history last weekend.

Having won in the World Rally Championship on 78 occasions and six times during his two-year stint in the WTCC, Loeb became the first driver to win events in three FIA world championships when he triumphed in Latvia’s round of the World Rallycross Championhip last weekend.

Loeb, who raced for Citroën in the WTCC in 2014 and 2015, narrowly missing out on the runner-up spot in last season’s standings, said: “We had a few delicate moments but it turned out to be a tremendous weekend. My goal at the start of this year was to win in RX and I always knew that would be a big challenge in my first year. For the last couple of events, however, I have felt like I was getting closer and today the hard work has paid off.”
