Mark Wallenwein is targeting “consistent pace and no mistakes” on Friday’s four stages of the Cyprus Rally, the final round of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge.

The ŠKODA Auto Deutschland driver has never competed on the picturesque Mediterranean island before but is determined to reach the finish in Pafos on Saturday evening.

“It’s a tough rally, one I would compare to Mexico where I have been once before,” said the German. “I want to set a consistent pace and make no mistakes. But it won’t be easy because I have never driven on Tarmac with gravel tyres before and we had no pre-event test. We will try our best.”

Wallenwein is ninth overall following Thursday night’s LTV Super Special Stage in Pafos. He is one place ahead of team-mate, the multiple German rally champion Matthias Kahle.
