Cyan Racing won’t rush the decision on who will drive its Volvo S60 Polestar TC1s in next season’s FIA World Touring Car Championship.
The Swedish outfit, the official motorsport partner of Volvo’s performance brand Polestar, announced its long-term commitment to the WTCC during a press conference at Mantorp Park on Tuesday and confirmed an initial two-car entry with plans for future expansion.
Vastly successful Swedish drivers Thed Björk, Robert Dahlgren and Fredrik Ekblom have been conducting development testing of the Volvo S60 Polestar TC1 and were present at Mantorp. However, Christian Dahl, CEO of Cyan Racing, said its driver line-up for the 2016 WTCC had yet to be finalised.
“We have really loyal drivers that have been with us for a long time who have been involved in the testing of the car,” Dahl explained. “We have a couple of more weeks before we make the decision. It’s a big and important decision. With a long programme you have to make the correct decision to start with but in a few weeks we will know what way we will go.”
