Top WTCC driver Yvan Muller admits he needs more time before he can join the Nürburgring Nordschleife elite.

The four-time winner of the FIA World Touring Car Championship claimed victory in the second of two WTCC races at the legendary German venue last season, which also marked his first appearance at the circuit Sir Jackie Stewart named The Green Hell.

Despite travelling to the track last month for some practice laps in a road car, the Citroën-driving Frenchman wants to complete more laps of the challenging 25.278-kilometre layout.

“For sure every driver knows more the circuit but we still don’t know the circuit,” said Muller. “You need probably 100 laps to know it properly. We did 15-20 laps maximum last year and that’s why I was there last [month] to do some more laps to learn a bit the circuit with a normal car, not with a race car unfortunately. It’s an amazing circuit and I hope to improve myself there this year.”
