Former Intercontinental Rally Challenge frontrunner Guy Wilks will be back in action in a rally car when he drives a Renault Twingo R2 on International Rally Northern Ireland this weekend, a round of the British championship.
Wilks hasn’t competed in anger since his outing on RACMSA Rally of Scotland in a Peugeot UK 207 Super 2000 last October.
“I’ve missed rallying and this is the longest period I’ve been out of a rally car since the start of my career,” said the 31-year-old, who claimed his sole IRC victory in Scotland in 2009. “This is a car built and run by a factory team which means it’s a great opportunity – I want to make the most of it. It’s a one-off now, but who knows what might happen.”
