Guy Wilks will start Rallye Sanremo on Friday determined to end his frustrating run of results in the Intercontinental Rally Challenge.
The Peugeot UK ace has hit trouble on several occasions this year but arrives in Italian Riviera confident of a strong result in the 207 Super 2000 he shares with co-driver Phil Pugh.
“This will be the fourth time I’ve competed here so we know the area and we know the stages,” said the 30-year-old Briton. “We tested in Italy on Monday and the car feels very good. We’re in a good place right now and hopefully we can transform that into a good result.”
Of his results this season, Wilks said: “Rallying is about sustaining a very good pace. Unfortunately we’ve not been able to do that for one reason or another. It’s absolutely frustrating and we want to make amends as soon as possible.”
Wilks is currently seventh in the IRC drivers’ standings.
