Only one point between the top three

The outcome of the latest races made the figth for the Yokohama Trophy even closer. With eight rounds still to go, the first six drivers in the classification are covered by only ten points.

Norbert Michelisz and Kristian Poulsen are still in first and second position with 79 and 78 points respectively, however as their booty between Donington and Oschersleben was limited to a few points (5 for the Hungarian, 3 for the Dane) their rivals took advantage to close the gap.

Darryl O’Young is third on equal points with Poulsen, Franz Engstler in fourth only one further point behind, Javier Villa is fifth at 73 and Michel Nykjær sixth, ten points off the leader.

With 92 points still to be awarded in the remaining events, all the other drivers have theoretical chances to fight for the title, however it is quite likely that the new champion will come out of the six-man leading pack.

This will not prevent Stefano D’Aste from looking for further victories after the first one in Oschersleben, and Pepe Oriola, Fredy Barth, Mehdi Bennani and Aleksei Dudukalo from proving that a race win is in their chords.
