Thierry Neuville has described his podium finish on round six of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge yesterday as a dream come true.

Belgian Neuville finished third on the Geko Ypres rally in his Team Peugeot Belgium-Luxembourg-backed 207 Super 2000 after a virtually error-free performance alongside French co-driver Nicolas Klinger.

Afterwards the 22-year-old said: “We were just behind the main drivers but we were pushing a bit and we learned a lot so I’m quite happy to finish the rally in third place. It’s like a dream for me because two years ago it was one of my first races and now to be on the podium is incredible.”

Neuville’s third place finish in Ypres has propelled him to sixth in the IRC drivers’ standings, four points behind Kronos Racing team-mate and defending champion Kris Meeke. His next appearance in the series is scheduled for Barum Czech Rally Zlín from August 27-29.
