Yvan Muller is braced for a “really emotional moment” when he calls time on his FIA World Touring Car Championship career at WTCC DHL Race of Qatar on Friday night.

The WTCC’s most successful driver is taking a step back from full time competition in 2017 to spend more time with his family and to run his own racing team.

Ahead of his final outing at the Losail International Circuit this week, Citroën’s four-time world champion said: “Everyone is telling me it will be a special race and I’m beginning to realise that it will be a really emotional moment. We will see if there are tears and how I will react. I don’t have the feeling I will cry or whatever but we never know. But when I see how many of my friends are making the trip, I think there will be a lot of positive energy around the Citroën camp!”
