Le leader du championnat Stoffel Vandoorne a signé le meilleur temps de la séance d’essais libres de GP2 à Sotchi, avec un chrono en 1’45’’326.
Le Belge a d’ores et déjà battu le record de la pole position 2014 et devance Charles Pic de pratiquement sept dixièmes. Rio Haryanto a pris le troisième temps.
Mitch Evans a pris la quatrième place pour son équipe Russian Time, qui court à domicile. Sergey Sirotkin, également régional de l’étape, a signé le septième temps derrière les DAMS d’Alex Lynn et de Pierre Gasly.
De retour en GP2 ce week-end, Alexander Rossi s’est emparé du huitième temps, devant Raffaelle Marciello et Nobuharu Matsushita qui complètent le top 10.
Pour sa première séance en GP2, Dean Stoneman a pris le 19ème temps à deux secondes de Vandoorne.
